This role has been created to support the rapid growth of the business in the emerging area of Data Centres. The role is a key support to the busy Data Centre Sales Manager and specialised Sales Engineering teams based in Belgium, Germany, France and Sweden with focus on controls. Objectives include:

  • Ensure engineering support is both effective and efficient in order to maximise sales resources and delivery competent solutions to generate wealth for the company.
  • Help to maintain and improve margins through the correct selection of solutions, and the production of accurate costing and schematics.
  • Ensure data centre engineering competency is maintained to a high standard including design, application and product knowledge.

The role is based in MBT factory in Dison, Belgium, with the possibility of short and frequent periods of travel into Europe.

Key activities

  • Collate enquiry information from clients and Data Centre team sales engineers, raise projects on Sellmore, and produce accurate selections, proposals and cost sheets as required
  • Carry out engineering design solutions, and produce design schematics
  • Ensure project information is added into the Selection tool in a timely fashion
  • Follow up on marketing enquires as directed by the Data Centre Manager
  • Evaluate cost sheets at the time of order for technical merit and article numbers
  • Provide direct technical & sales support to data centre customers
  • Help and support with site visit if required to do so
  • Help and support with customer visits if required to do so
  • Conduct activities in accordance with company health and safety and ensure that QA standards are adhered to
  • On-going support of DC sales team and other colleagues
  • Pro-actively share knowledge and information with colleagues
  • Work with the Data Centre Manager to plan and prioritise workload
  • Ensure logical & accurate handover of designs and costs to sales support
  • Help maintain good customer relationships
  • Receive and notify Data Centre Manager of any customer complaints
  • Help in the preparation and submission of tender documents
  • Ensure work is in accordance with ISO 9001
  • Advise Data Centre Manager of any training needs
  • Provide Data Centre Manager with feedback on competitor activity
  • Encourage and develop new ideas and report to Data Centre Manager
  • Communicate with and support colleagues with regards to all projects, especially multi-quotes and tender submissions
  • Maintain professional integrity at all times
  • Highlight problems, or potential problems to the Data Centre Manager in a timely fashion
  • Keep pre-sales register and other relevant company data bases up to date
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Data Centre Manager
  • Participate in presentations and promote the professionalism of the business

Education and work experience

  • ONC/HND or Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret PNID
  • Highly IT literate
  • Project Management Experience
  • Excellent standard of spoken and written English
  • HVAC, Refrigeration or Air Handling experience or knowledge
  • Understanding of Psychrometrics
  • CAD experience or Design knowledge
  • Experience or knowledge of Data Centres
  • Understanding of a second European language other English
